2016 Grammy Hair

2/18/2016

It's award season again and my hopes and dreams were a little shattered after the Grammys. Red carpets are such a big industry and I feel like the hair at these big events is almost always kind of an afterthought. So not much to see here other than Florence Welch's fabulous as usual hair color and Cam's (yellow dress) awesome curly style.

Bonus amusing points to Zendaya for her mullet, she always brings it in the hair department. I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of Adele's lob and center part. It's looking harsh. But I guess with that face she can do anything she wants.

Stay tuned for more award season coverage!

Who wore it better? Anna Wintour for the last 2 centuries or Taylor Swift at the 2016 Grammys

2015 Oscars/Vanity Fair Hair

So the Oscars were a little frustrating for me this year. It's the biggest night for the biggest stars and I really wanted to see some spectacular hair. People just don't put their hair up any more. We had a ton of beautiful shiny hair but it was all barrel curls, blowouts and flat irons. Which, don't get me wrong I LOVE a good blow out but for the Oscars I really wanted some hair drama. Anyway, enjoy the slide show and get inspired!

Golden Globes Hair

Sooo, we're a little late with our review for the globes. It wasn't a big night for updos and we're a little sad about that but on the other hand we had a lot of beautiful color to talk about.  First up we have Keira Knightley. The dress was pretty bad. The hair sort of lazy. She usually has an eclectic and ethereal style but this just felt exasperated. Kelly Osbourne rocked a fabulous purple hawk- so fun. Maggie Gyllenhaal has been sporting a pixie for what feels like a decade. It suits her but it doesn't give you a lot of options for red carpet events.

This year's breakout star- Rosamund Pike wore a classic asymmetrical bob which DID NOT go with the dress she wore. She is so lovely and looked fantastic except for her gown. Katie Holmes- just no. It looks and is fake. We love hair enhancements when done to accent the look. Her hair felt distracting.

Emily Blunt's romantic braids were predictable- every award show someone pulls out the romantic braid do- but we don't care because we're suckers for it. Alison Williams from Girls- it was a poorly executed faux bob. So shiny though!

JLO is clearly a vampire and while a lot of people thought she was over the top we LOVED the drama from head to toe. She rarely if ever does anything different but boy does she know how to do her.

Emma Stone's long bob was great, as was Sienna Millers and Naomi Watts'. Zosia Mamet's funky color was a win for us as well.

Amal Alamudin did what she always does with her hair. We can'd complain about a shiny luscious blowout. Just wish she would sometimes change it up. Speaking of glamorous hair Jessica Chastain was a total knockout. That is how you do old Hollywood glamour. Simply divine. Jemima Kirke is a goddess, nothing more to say there.

And last but not least we have Jen Aniston wearing her hair up- a rarity for her. She tries to hide her face with her hair a lot but she shouldn't- we liked her look very much.

Pantone- Color of 2015

Marsala (no not the chicken). From Pantone's website:"A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls."
As we know a lot of trends in fashion, design, hair are interconnected. I am excited about how this choice will influence hair trends. It's a deep, rich red brown with a hint of violet. Very romantic if you disregard the name.

Twin Peaks- Leading Ladies

Twin peaks has been in the news lately which reminded me about how much I love the show. Here are the leading ladies with their signature hair styles. I had forgotten how thoroughly terrifying it was until I tried to look for pics of Laura Palmer. Don't do it! Laura, Donna, Shelly, Audrey, and Norma. Oh and the Log Lady.

My favorite was Audrey.  She is a quintessential brunette beauty to me.  Enjoy!

Keira Knightly as Anna Karenina. The hair and costumes in this film were fantastic.  Hair and Makeup by Ivana Primorac and costume design by Jacqueline Durran.
